First Date Conversation Tips

First date conversation is not easy. Some dates clam up; others are overcome with nerves and never stop talking. Try to focus your conversation, and eventually it will start flowing easier.  You just need the right wording; here are some great phrases to help out your conversation:

“What are the reasons for your opinion?”
You have totally different views on some subject than your date. Butting heads a little is a great way to get to know each other, not to mention get the sparks going. So you should definitely share your opinion. But do it after you’ve diplomatically asked your date “What are the reasons for your opinion?” This is the difference between an engaging conversation and an instant turn-off.

“I never thought of it that way”

Now you can really make your dates night.  After they express the reasons for their viewpoint,  say, “I never thought of it that way.” This doesn’t mean you think your date is a genius, or that your agree, it just means you can see their viewpoint. It shows respect for other’s ideas.

“Tell me more about it”
This phrase brings you beyond small talk and lets you get deeper into a topic that is important to your date.  Instead of trying to offer a solution instantly to a situation or problem your date has, take care to hold your tongue at any point where you are tempted to offer an immediate solution. Instead, encourage your date to keep talking by saying, “Tell me more about it.”

“That must have upset you”
Rather than take sides when your date is telling you of a challenging conversation or interaction, stay neutral and say something sympathetic like “That must have upset you,” or “I can understand how that would annoy you.” This way, you show compassion and empathy without causing any problems.

“How did it go?”
During the conversation your date will surely mention an upcoming event that’s important. Take note when you hear about these events. They are good opportunities later on to show your date you were listening. Bottom line: Dates do like to be asked about things they’ve mentioned to you already — make a point of asking when you see or talk to each other again. It will be nothing less than thoughtful.

American Capital Energy, Inc. (ACE) was awarded a landfill contract to construct $85 million, 18.2 MW of solar generating facilities by Cape and Vineyard Electric Cooperative.

The project will convert town owned property and landfills in six Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard communities into solar farms which will produce approximately 25% of the energy needs of the participating communities.

Mark Sylvia, commissioner of the Mass. Department of Energy Resources, said, "This is a significant game-changing model."

The project is projected to save participating towns $1.42 million in energy costs in the first year.

Across the USA, every city and town has vacant capped landfills and brownfields which could be converted to solar facilities to produce solar electricity to power the grid, reduce carbon omissions and cut corporate and municipal energy costs. American Capital Energy, a Massachusetts based company and leading solar expert has completed over 35 large scale utility and brownfield projects since its founding in 2005.

Selected from more than 150 submissions ACE was the Engineering Procurement Construction firm that recently completed the Silver Lake Solar Facility for Western Mass. Electric Co.

Silver Lake is the redevelopment of 8 acres of brownfield floodplain land into a renewable energy facility.

The 1.8 MW Silver Lake facility is located in Pittsfield, Mass. accommodates a variety of complex permitting restrictions and is a shining example of what a public-private partnership can accomplish.

Silver Lake is the largest utility scale solar project completed to date in Mass. and consists of 6,500 ground mounted photovoltaic panels covering 8 acres.

As cities and towns across the country struggle with energy consumption and costs the conversion of these polluted open sites, brownfields, will produce not only much needed power but also help communities balance their budgets.
